Course Objectives
Improve your skills in identification, assessment, and treatment of patients with a number of common, yet potentially challenging problems in Wilderness Medicine. Work in interdisciplinary teams while practicing, acquiring or improving your navigational and survival skills. Put your new knowledge and skills to the test when you race in your teams through maple forest terrain to find your moulage victims. Teams will be expected on race day to assess, stabilize and prepare for transport their "patients" at each of 5 sites.
Who Should Attend
This course offers a great learning experience for a variety of professionals involved in Wilderness Medicine. We welcome medical students, residents & physicians, outdoor leaders, nurses, physiotherapists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, search & rescue personnel, fire fighter and first responders. There are only 30 participants each year - so don't leave your registration too late.
Conference Format
Case-based lectures, workshops, and extensive practice of navigational skills provide the base of instructional learning. The small group workshops offer ample opportunity for inter-action between registrants and faculty.
